Power of the Pen Winners

January 10, 2013

We are so proud!  There were 19 schools, 409 students who competed in the Regional Power of the Pen Competition.  Our 7th grade team took 2nd Place and our 8th grade team took 3rd place.  Best of Round–Peyton White and Katie Ford from grade 7 and Abigaile Morrow from grade 8.  This is so wonderful for our students who have worked really hard for these accomplishments.  Congratulations to our students and to their coach Mrs. Stuhlmiller!  Way to go POP Team!

12/10/12 Last week a new mom came to our school for a tour and to inquire about our school.  She said as she was walking up the sidewalk and a class was walking by the door and 3 students stopped to open the door for her!  She was very impressed!  I was one proud principal!  I can’t say it enough, SMS students are the best!

12/9/12 December 6 was St. Nicholas Day.  Our K-4 students put their shoes outside their classroom door and found St. Nicholas had visited and put candy in their shoes!  Thank you SMS Student Council.

12/4/12 Our teachers and staff are looking for students who go out of their way to do kind deeds for others.  When a staff member sees a student who “goes out of their way for others”, he or she will send a Praise Note to the office.  I will announce their name of the PA system and put their name in the Newsflash.  SMS are the best who know how to show respect and do something nice for one another!  I’m so proud of our students!

11/27/12 We are having difficulty with our e-mail at St. Michael School.  Our e-mail provider – register.com – has updated some things and as a result some of the teachers are not receiving e-mails. I guess that goes with any updates in technology.  We are working on a solution and hopefully will get the problem fixed within the next few days.  Please be patient while we work through this problem.

10/31/12 Today was another great day at St. Michael School.   Don’t forget that we will have Mass tomorrow
